Absolutely heartbreaking: A North Carolina mother jumped into an icy pond Sunday evening after her 7-year-old twin sons fell through the frozen surface behind their home.
Benjamin and Sebastian Pufall were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead that night. Their mother, who had been cooking dinner when they didn’t respond to her calls, found them in the pond and tried to save them. She was later treated for hypothermia.
The twins were first graders and were described as deeply loved. A fundraiser has raised over $15,000 to help their mother with expenses.
