Hegseth Says America’s Liberty Is Rooted in Biblical Truth

At the National Religious Broadcasters Freedom 250 Celebration, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth linked America’s founding directly to biblical principles, arguing that individual liberty, natural rights, and human dignity flow from the Christian belief that all people are created in God’s image.

He sharply criticized what he called the “godless left,” accusing modern progressives of viewing individuals as subordinate to the state, similar to “ancient and godless societies.” In contrast, he argued that Christianity established a transcendent view of human dignity that undergirds American liberty.

Hegseth also praised Donald Trump for defending religious liberty and restoring Christian prayer services at the Pentagon, declaring, “It’s not political, it’s biblical,” and affirming, “Christ is King.”
