Republican candidates Steve Hilton drew attention for vowing to end what he called the “obscenity of biological boys in girls’ sports,” pledging to overturn Assembly Bill 1266 if elected governor.
Wearing a “Save Girls’ Sports” bracelet, Hilton argued the law is unconstitutional, discriminatory against girls, and a violation of California’s duty to protect student safety.
Despite California’s long Democratic dominance, Hilton insisted Republicans have a viable path to victory, pointing to recent turnout numbers and the millions of votes Donald Trump received in the state.
While historical results show Republicans have fallen short in recent gubernatorial races, Hilton urged supporters to “believe in the mission” and press forward toward 2026.
