Teenage champion wrestler Saleh Mohammadi has been executed in Iran after being accused of killing police officers during anti-government protests.
As a member of Iran’s national wrestling team, Mohammadi was sentenced to death on charges including “waging war against God,” according to state media. Rights groups say his confession was obtained under torture and that he was denied a fair trial.
His death has sparked global outrage, as many mourn the loss of a young athlete caught in a violent crackdown.
Olympic gold medalist Brandon Slay condemned the execution, expressing heartbreak and offering prayers: “My prayers are with Saleh Mohammadi’s family… The hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only light that overcomes darkness.”
