At least 16,500 protesters have been killed and 330,000+ injured during recent unrest in Iran, based on data gathered by doctors inside the country amid a near-total internet blackout.
Medical sources describe widespread gunshot wounds, shrapnel injuries, and severe eye trauma, with hundreds to thousands permanently blinded. Most victims are believed to be under 30. Doctors say military-grade weapons were used, including live ammunition and snipers.
Ali Khamenei acknowledged “several thousands” killed, blaming protesters and foreign enemies. Independent verification remains difficult due to communications shutdowns.
