Pastor Robert Jeffress says President Donald Trump “has a better understanding of what the Bible teaches” about government than Pope Leo.
The First Baptist Dallas pastor made the comment while discussing the conflict with Iran. Although he called Pope Leo a “good man” who is “sincere in his faith,” Jeffress said the pontiff is “sincerely wrong when it comes to Iran.”
Citing Romans 13, Jeffress said God gave government a specific role: “The role of government is to protect citizens from evildoers.”
According to Jeffress, Trump understood that biblical responsibility when he warned that Iran was close to obtaining nuclear weapons capable of threatening both Israel and the United States.
