Lana Del Rey Shares How Hard Times Shaped Her Faith

Lana Del Rey opened up in an interview about how her belief in God really came out of some dark, difficult moments in her life.

She said her understanding of God isn’t so much about organized religion, but more about personal experience. Like, she was in so much trouble in New York that, in her words, “if you were me, you would believe in God too.”

She explained that when life gets bad enough, sometimes prayer is all you have left: “Your only resort is to lie in bed and start praying.”

Back then, she had nowhere to live and was just trying to survive while chasing music, and she admitted she ended up in situations she didn’t plan on. She said she was going for something beautiful, but “I kinda got myself into trouble along the way.”

For her, faith became about realizing there’s “a divine power you can call on” when everything else falls apart.
