Christian faith took center stage when Black Panther star Letitia Wright accepted the Rising Star award at the 72nd annual BAFTAs in London.
Wright said, “I identify myself as a child of God and I can’t get up here without thanking God.” She then shared openly about her past struggle, revealing, “A few years ago I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting.”
Wright credited her breakthrough not to instant success, but to perseverance grounded in faith. “This wasn’t an overnight thing… I’m still a work in progress,” she said, adding that others “saw my talent, saw what God placed in me, and said yes.”
She also shared words directed to those who may be struggling silently: “God made you and you’re important… you know it and God knows it…God loves you and just let your light shine.”
