American medical missionary Dr. Peter Stafford and his family have been released from Berlin’s Charité University Hospital after Stafford tested negative for Ebola and remained symptom-free following specialized treatment.
Stafford had contracted the Bundibugyo Ebola virus while serving patients in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His condition initially declined rapidly, but his wife, Rebekah Stafford, said the family is deeply grateful to God and to everyone who prayed. “We are happy to report that Peter has made significant improvements,” she said.
Rebekah also recalled a Congolese doctor who helped stabilize Peter before his evacuation and told him that God would bring him back. As Peter continues to recover, the family said their hearts remain with Congolese doctors, nurses, and frontline workers who continue risking their lives to care for the sick.
