Nashville Charter School Clears Teacher After Faith Objection

A Nashville public charter school has cleared the record of a first-grade teacher who was disciplined for refusing to read a same-sex marriage book to students, citing his Christian faith.

KIPP Antioch College Prep Elementary had issued Eric Rivera a final warning after he asked another teacher to read the LGBTQ-themed book. With support from First Liberty Institute, Rivera sought a religious accommodation.

The school later removed the warning from his file and agreed to allow teachers to have another staff member read materials that conflict with their faith.
