At Rededicate 250 on the National Mall, Mike Johnson led a sweeping prayer of national rededication, declaring that America’s freedoms and blessings come from God alone.
Johnson traced the nation’s history from the Pilgrims to the present, thanking God for guiding the founders as they sought His help during the Revolutionary War. He emphasized that the United States was built on the biblical truth that “all men are created equal” and that every person is “created in your image” and endowed by God with “unalienable rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
He warned that “sinister ideologies” have attacked America’s moral and spiritual identity, attempting to convince young people that the nation’s story is only one of “oppression and hypocrisy and failure.” But Johnson firmly declared, “We reject that. We rebuke it in your name.”
The House speaker prayed for Donald Trump, lawmakers, pastors, parents, teachers, doctors, and military personnel, asking God to grant them wisdom, courage, and faithfulness. He also asked the Lord to forgive America’s sins “individually and collectively” and to pour out mercy on the nation.
In the climax of his prayer, Johnson proclaimed: “We hereby rededicate the United States of America as one nation under God,” asking the Holy Spirit to descend upon the land so future generations would once again see God’s providential hand at work.
