A major child protection operation in North Texas led to the rescue of 89 children and the arrest of 276 suspects during a two-month crackdown on internet crimes against children.
The operation, known as Soteria Shield, brought together 91 law enforcement agencies to investigate child exploitation, online predation, and related offenses. Authorities said several of those arrested were already registered sex offenders.
Officials highlighted one case involving an 18-year-old man accused of traveling from Oklahoma to Texas to have sex with a 14-year-old girl. Investigators also uncovered alleged discussions about threatening the victim’s family and committing additional crimes.
