Pastor Greg Locke delivered an emotional message to his church after the death of his 20-year-old son, Evan, urging parents to forgive quickly and love deeply while they still can. Locke shared that Evan died after his heart stopped following a drug overdose and could not be revived.
Speaking before and during his sermon, Locke told the congregation that faith becomes real in moments of deep pain. He also thanked friends and church members who came alongside his family in their grief, saying their support had meant more than words could express.
Locke said Evan’s upcoming celebration of life would welcome even former members and others who had once been distant, emphasizing grace, love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. In the middle of heartbreaking loss, he also asked for prayer for Evan’s siblings and reminded parents not to wait too long to show mercy, because mistakes can be forgiven, but time cannot be taken back.
