A group of protesters entering Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, during a Sunday worship service. The demonstrators said they were there because they believe one of the church’s pastors also serves as the acting field director of the St. Paul ICE field office.
“Someone who claims to worship God and teach people in this church about God is out there overseeing ICE agents. Think about what we’ve experienced,” one protester told the congregation from inside the sanctuary.
Former CNN host Don Lemon walked into the church with the group and later spoke with Cities Church lead pastor Jonathan Parnell about the disruption.
“This is unacceptable. It’s shameful to interrupt a public gathering of Christians in worship,” Pastor Parnell responded. “We’re here to worship. We’re here to worship Jesus, because that’s the hope of these cities, that’s the hope of the world, is Jesus Christ.”
