At Rededicate 250 on the National Mall, Mike Johnson offered a passionate prayer asking God to renew the nation and restore its dependence on Him.
After recounting how America’s founders sought God through “humiliation, fasting, and prayer,” Johnson said the nation’s freedoms and unalienable rights come not from government, but from “our Creator and Heavenly Father.”
He prayed for forgiveness for America’s sins, asking God to pour out mercy on the land and to give the nation “a renewed love of country, hope for the future, and faith in your everlasting mercy and grace.”
In the climactic moment of his prayer, Johnson declared: “Today, here, Lord, in this 250th year of American independence, we hereby rededicate the United States of America as one nation under God.”
He asked the Holy Spirit to descend upon the country so that future generations would look back and once again see God’s providential hand at work in America.
