Team USA’s women’s hockey team powered into the Winter Olympics semifinals with a dominant 6–0 win over Italy in Milan, outshooting the host team 51–5 and keeping its perfect record intact.
Forward Britta Curl-Salemme added, “We’re here to win a gold medal,” noting the team stayed focused on playing “the game the right way.”
Curl-Salemme, who grew up skating on a backyard rink in North Dakota, has long dreamed of the Olympics. Alongside that goal, her Catholic faith — rooted in Sunday Mass, Catholic education, and daily Scripture reading — has been her anchor.
After a painful setback before the 2022 Beijing Olympics, she said God taught her detachment and trust, reminding her that her worth goes beyond hockey. Now competing in Milan-Cortina 2026, she credits her faith for giving her strength, peace, and purpose both on and off the ice.
