President Donald J. Trump has appointed Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, a panel that provides oversight and recommendations to the president and the Secretary of Defense.
Charlie Kirk previously served on the board and was known for raising concerns about critical race theory and diversity programs at the academy, while also advocating for faster renovation of the Air Force Academy Chapel.
According to the White House, he inspired many with his bold Christian faith, defense of truth, and love of country while serving.
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said Erika Kirk will carry forward that legacy, serving as a strong advocate for the U.S. Air Force and the servicemembers who protect the nation.
