President Donald Trump says the U.S. carried out a “brilliant operation” in Venezuela early Saturday, launching strikes in Caracas that ended with Nicolás Maduro and his wife being captured and flown out of the country.
Inside Venezuela, the moment was chaotic. Pastor Carlos Vielma said people were “startled awake… by loud explosions,” adding, “We have no electricity or Wi-Fi. That kind of moment leaves you in shock.”
Evangelical leaders responded with caution and prayer. The Evangelical Council of Venezuela urged believers “not to be dominated by fear or anxiety” and to trust in “the sovereignty of God, who reigns over the nations.”
From exile, Christian leader Aristóteles López called Maduro’s capture divine intervention, saying God “never forgot Venezuela,” but warned the fight isn’t over and asked believers to keep praying.
Leaders in Colombia echoed that call, asking for prayer for “freedom, peace, and restoration” as the country enters an uncertain new chapter.
