President Donald J. Trump announced that he plans to “rededicate America as one nation under God” during the nation’s 250th anniversary year. A special prayer ceremony is scheduled for May 17 on the National Mall, where Americans will gather to pray and give thanks.
He emphasized that faith and religion are essential to America’s greatness, declaring, “To be a great nation, you have to have religion. You have to have faith. You have to have God.”
The president said the anniversary year offers an opportunity for the country to come together in prayer and renew its commitment to being “one nation under God.”
