U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa, was killed in a drone attack at the Port of Shuaiba in Kuwait on March 1, 2026.
An Army information technology specialist who enlisted in 2023, he was posthumously promoted to sergeant after being recommended for the rank shortly before his death.
Coady was also studying information systems, cybersecurity and computer science at Drake University and hoped to become a commissioned officer.
His sister, Keira Coady, said the loss is difficult to accept, recalling their conversations about what he planned to do when he returned home.
